Manchester United defeated Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the JJB Stadium on Sunday to win their 10th Premiership title. Speaking after the match and title triumph, United star Cristiano Ronaldo said that although people are singling him out for the second consecutive Premiership trophy haul for United, the truth is that it has been a team effort.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored 31 goals in the Premiership and won the top scorer prize but he played down his contribution and said:
“Well, my teammates help me a lot, they give me good passes and great confidence - and I score. I have an opportunity to score, and I score.
“But I think you need to talk about the team. I think the team played very well and deserved to win. I think we have the best players and the best team in the Premier League.”
Whatever Ronaldo may say, everyone will have to accept that the Portuguese star has been the best player for Man United this season and that without him, the Red Devils wouldn’t have won.
