Catalan giants FC Barcelona have been given a huge boost for the rest of their season by the news that central defender Gabriel Milito is back in training and could be making his return to competitive football before long.

Milito was injured last season and has not played for Barcelona at all this season. There have been one or two doubts on whether he can return to full fitness and at one stage it did look likely that he woud have to go the entire 2008-2009 season without playing a sigle minute of competitive football.
But the Argentine international defender has now returned to training and is expected to return to the pitch on matchdays before long. Dr. Ramon Cugat, who operated on the player almost a year ago, has offered a ray of hope as in an interview with Radio Catalunya he insisted that the former Real Zaragoza defender would be able to play again this season.
Dr.Cugat said:
āI am optimistic and we hope that God will hear our prayers and we could see Milito playing at least a few games this season. His recovery is going very well. But I want to make it clear that we should expect him to play the important games. If La Liga is settled soon, we could be available to get some playing time.ā
