Newcastle United are unbeaten in their last six matches in the Premiership and have also won four of their last five matches. After 10 matches without a win, Kevin Keegan’s side has progresses marvelously to climb out of the relegation mire and look forward to building for next season.
Former Newcastle player Alan Shearer is hugely impressed with Kevin Keegan’s transformation of Newcastle from a relegation threatened club under Sam Allardyce to one that can finish in the respectable confines of the mid-table.
The Toon legend Shearer says:
“It just shows the knack Kevin has. The team lost the first few games that he was in charge and so the confidence went.
“Then, the pressure grew. What is for certain is that the players you see now are not the same players you saw three months ago.
“I was always pointing out that this would be the case, because I know the way that Kevin operates. It shows the club’s board were absolutely right to give him the time.”
Maybe we would be in a position to judge at this time next season and observe when KK can fulfill his promise of ushering in a new era at St. James’ Park.
