England international midfielder David Beckham has explained just why and how he made up his mind to stay on at Italian club AC Milan.
David Beckham is officially a LA Galaxy player at the moment and was loaned to Italian and European powerhouse AC Milan in January for until the end of March.
But Beckham has persistently insisted that he would like to stretch his Milan stay beyond March and is ready to pay for his sojourn.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder has been quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport as saying:
“I can assure you that when I agreed the loan deal, I did not think about staying beyond March 9.
“But after a week and having played my first game, I understood that I needed to continue playing at the highest level.
“I did not snub Milan in 2007, their offer was just a little late. I do not regret my choices, though. I didn’t win anything with the Galaxy, but it was a nice experience. I don’t know whether I left my mark on American football, but the MLS sure has a great future.”
So it is likely that Beckham shall sign a permanent contract with the Milan side.
