The game’s only score came from Ronaldo who made a last-minute winner. The goal was initially ruled out but was later awarded by the video assistant referee.

Aside from being his 200th winning cap, it was also Ronaldo’s 123rd international goal, extending his record even further.

“For me, it’s an unbelievable achievement, it’s amazing,” he said after the match.

“And, of course, to score the winning goal, it’s even more special.”

“We didn’t play so well but sometimes football is like that but we scored a goal and, in my opinion, we deserved it. I’m so happy because of 200 caps, but this is even more special.”

This is the 20th year that Ronaldo is playing for Portugal. He made his debut for the team in 2003 and despite having left European clubs to play in Saudi Arabia, he continues to be a big part of the National team.

Before he moved to Saudi Arabia, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner played for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

Ronaldo surpassed Bader Al-Matuwa who has been capped 196 times.

As Portugal continues forward after their win, Ronaldo will only keep extending his cap record.
