Manchester United Secures Champions League Spot Beating Chelsea

Celebrations ensued after Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-1, securing their spot in the Champions League with a game to spare.

Carlos Henrique Casemiro started with an early goal, followed by Anthony Martial who doubled the lead. Bruno Fernandez then scored a third before Marcus Rashford scored the fourth. It would have been a sweep for United had Joao Felix not scored the lone point for Chelsea.

Despite the win, it was not all good news for United though as Antony had to be taken away on a stretcher. He was in tears after he suffered a lower leg injury. It does not bode well for the team especially since the FA Cup final is just two weeks away.

Erik Ten Hag commented a 24-hour is needed before they can tell how bad the injury is.

“I can tell you that it’s serious but we have to wait a minimum of 24 hours and then we know probably more about the status of his injury.”

It was the eighth defeat in 10 games for the men in blue under the direction of Frank Lampard, their 16th overall in what was a sorry excuse for a campaign.

It has been one of the worst seasons for the team in almost two decades and for many fans, the season could not come to an end quickly enough.
