Marcus Rashford has taken to social media to dispel rumours that he told Manchester United to make him the highest paid player in the Premier League in order to re-sign him.

Rashford and Manchester United have been in discussions on a new contract, with the England international enjoying rare goal scoring form since the Word Cup.

The 25-year-old’s current contract ends in 2024 and the Daily Star claimed he had demanded a new deal worth 500,000 pounds per week. But Rashford took to Twitter to slam those claims.

“Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It’s complete nonsense,” Rashford wrote.

“The club and make [sic] self have been respectful to one another, and that’s how it will remain.

“My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies.”

United triggered a one-year extension option in Rashford’s contract earlier this season to keep him at Old Trafford for another campaign.

He has re-paid that faith with 27 goals in 44 appearances this term, including 20 in 25 games since the World Cup.
