Spurs confirmed that assistant manager Cristian Stellini will take over for the rest of the season on an interim basis as they chase UEFA Champions League qualification.
Tottenham’s decision to part ways with Conte came as no surprise after his explosive tirade after last week’s 3-3 draw with Southampton, hinting at issues with the club’s chairman and calling the players “selfish”.
In a brief statement, Tottenham said: “We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement.
“We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonios first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.
“Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.”
Conte appeared to take aim at Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in his rant after the Southampton draw, having continually complained about not getting the funds or players he needed for their ambitions.
The decision comes with Spurs sitting fourth in the league, one point behind third-placed Manchester United who have two games in hand.
Fifth-placed Newcastle United are two points back with two games in hand, while Liverpool are sixth a further five points back with two games in hand on Spurs.
Levy said: We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place.
“We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
Tottenham were knocked out of the Champions League last 16 after a 1-0 aggregate loss to AC Milan, while they lost to second tier Sheffield United in the FA Cup.
