Bayern Munich have sacked Julian Nagelsmann and replaced him with Thomas Tuchel with immediate effect, according to reports.
Trusted football journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Bayern will announce the changes on Friday, having held a board meeting on Thursday to discuss the changes.
The shock decision comes despite Bayern reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, with the side sitting second in the German Bundesliga behind Borussia Dortmund with nine games to play.
Bayern lost 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, allowing Dortmund to return to the summit with a one-point lead.
Tuchel has been out of a job since being sacked by Chelsea in August. According to Romano, Tuchel has full agreement in place with Bayern with documents being prepared on Thursday evening to be signed on Friday.
Nagelsmann reportedly is yet to receive any official communication from Bayern management on his future.
The 35-year-old head coach has led Bayern since July 2021, winning last season’s Bundesliga title by eight points.
Bayern also reached last season’s Champions League quarter-finals but suffered a shock exit to Villarreal.
Ex-Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain boss Tuchel hasnt coached in the Bundesliga since 2017, having had spells with Dortmund and FSV Mainz.
