Cristiano Ronaldo sets a new all-time record for the most international appearances for his country with 197 and he has no plans of stopping.

“Records are my motivation,” Ronaldo said.

“I want to become the most capped player in history. That would make me proud.”

“But it doesn’t stop there, I still want to be called up very often.”

He made his international debut in 2003 and last year, he became the first man to score in five separate World Cups.

As of 2023, he is signed with Al Nassr in Saudi following his nasty breakup with Manchester United. He has since been in 10 matches for Al Nassr.

In addition to his new record, he is also hoping to increase the number of goals he’s scored for Portugal. As it stands, he has 118. He hopes to add more as Portugal starts their campaign for the European Championship in Germany, next year.

There have been questions about whether Ronaldo is getting too old to play for his country but Roberto Martinez simply said: “I do not look at the age.”

Ronaldo is also the top goal scorer in the European Championship Finals. He also holds the record for scoring the most times in the Champions League.

In addition, Ronaldo is also the top scorer in three of Europe’s top five leagues – in England, Spain, and Italy.

On Sunday, Portugal is going up against Luxembourg. They are also set to go up against Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Iceland and Slovakia.
