The Revierderby leads the way with the rivalries this weekend, while there’s some crucial clashes for league-leading sides across Europe.
Saturday 6pm European time - Italian Serie A
Napoli are 15 points clear at the top and seem destined for the Scudetto but there still are 13 games to go and this is a side who’ve not been up there for a long time. The challenge of sixth-placed Atalanta will not be simple, especially after losing to Lazio last time out, although the visitors do come in having won once in their past five league games. These two sides are free-scoring so hopefully it’ll be entertaining at the very least.
Schalke 04 v Borussia Dortmund
Saturday 6:30pm European time - German Bundesliga
These two clubs may be at opposite ends of the table but they are rivals and the Revierderby is always a massive occasion. To add to that, both are arguably the form teams in the Bundesliga, with second-placed Dortmund winning eight in a row in the league. Schalke may be 17th but they have found form with a six-game unbeaten run, including winning their past two to boost their survival hopes.
Sunday 3pm European time - English Premier League
The league-leading Gunners are looking over their shoulders with second-placed Manchester City five points behind with 12 games to play. Arsenal have a difficult test across London to face seventh-placed Fulham. The Gunners have a few injury issues in attack too, with Gabriel Jesus unlikely to be available despite returning to training this week.
Sunday 6:30pm European time - Spanish La Liga
The race for Champions League spots heats up in Spain on Sunday, with sixth-placed Villarreal hosting fifth-placed Betis. The visitors are coming off a 4-1 loss to Manchester United in the Europa League. Both clubs, however, can see a top-four opportunity, with fourth-placed Real Sociedad stumbling lately, with two points from their past three games, meaning Betis are only three points behind them.
Sunday 9pm European time - Spanish La Liga
Barcelona’s title charge continues on Sunday evening with an awkward trip to ninth-placed Athletic Bilbao. The Blaugrana enjoyed the week off, with no European commitments, and will be fresh to maintain or even extend their nine-point league lead. Bilbao are typically tough at home, but they have dropped four games this season at San Mames.
