This weekend brings a bunch of derby blockbusters around Europe this weekend, including some key fixtures for top clubs.
Saturday 6:30pm European time - Spanish La Liga
The Madrid derby takes centre stage in Spain on Saturday, with champions Real sitting second on the table, eight points behind leaders Barcelona, while fourth-placed Atletico are a further 10 points behind Los Blancos. Atletico are unbeaten in six league games, having conceded only once in five games, while Real are fresh from a 5-2 win at Liverpool in midweek with Vinicius Junior starring.
Sunday 2:30pm European time - English Premier League
Spurs host Chelsea on Sunday’s London derby, with the Blues enduring a woeful run of results which has piled the pressure on new manager Graham Potter. Another defeat will move him closer to the axe, while fourth-placed Tottenham have their own top-four aspirations, sitting one point ahead of Newcastle having played one game more.
Sunday 5:30pm European time - German Bundesliga
The Bundesliga title race is alive following Bayern’s recent stutters, having dropped points in four of their past six league games. Bayern remain top but Borussia Dortmund and Union are level on points, behind only on goal difference, so victory for the visitors will be significant in the title race. Union have the second best away record in the Bundesliga too, so this will be enticing.
Olympique Marseille v Paris Saint-Germain
Sunday 8:45pm European time - French Ligue 1
Le Classique takes over in France on Sunday with plenty at stake, with OM sitting second only five points behind the league-leading PSG. The Parisiens have had their own struggles in all competitions lately, so there is an air of vulnerability about them with concerns over Neymar, while Kylian Mbappe has only just come back from injury. Marseille havent beaten PSG in the league since 2020.
Sunday 8:45pm European time - Italian Serie A
Milan have put together back-to-back wins following their slump to revitalize their top-four aspirations but the visit of sixth-placed Atalanta will test them. The Rossoneri remain fourth, for now, three points ahead of Atalanta, who have lost two of their past three games. Goals have dried up lately for Milan, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic back fit and available to lead the attack, alongside Olivier Giroud.
