France midfielder Paul Pogba will miss the upcoming World Cup as he continues to struggle to recover from knee surgery in September.

The agent of the Juventus star, who helped France lift the World Cup in Russia in 2018, confirmed the news on Monday.

“Following yesterday and today’s medical review in Torino and Pittsburgh, it is extremely painful to inform Paul Pogba will still need recovery time from his surgery,” agent Rafaela Pimenta said.

“For this reason, Paul will not be able to join Juventus squad before the World Cup break nor the French national team in Qatar.

“If wishful thinking would change things, Paul would be playing tomorrow.”

France’s World Cup opener is against Australia on November, with further matches against Denmark and Tunisia in their group.

The 29-year-old will not play for Juventus until the new year, having moved to the club from Manchester United in the off-season. He hasnt played at all this season for the Bianconeri.

In a club statement, Juventus said needs to continue to rehabilitate the knee after further examinations.

Les Bleus are already without Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante leaving another hole in the world champions’ midfield.
