For all PSG’s new-found wealth, the Parisians have never won the current iteration of the continental competition, finishing runners-up in 2019-20 along with semi-finalists 12 months later.
Last season, PSG were bundled out in the round of 16 by Real Madrid despite the addition of Lionel Messi.
With Messi appearing more settled this term, alongside an in-form Neymar and Mbappe, there is a view that PSG should be there at the pointy end.
“Our supporters expect a lot of us, we need to put in a good performance and pick up result after result,” Mbappe told reporters.
“This match comes at the right time to kick start our European adventure and to continue our good form.”
Mbappe, who was previously heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, added: “I always want to win, and everyone knows that my objective is to do everything to secure a win.
“The Champions League is very difficult to win, the big teams have all strengthened, there are lots of teams that are ready and armed to win it.
“We will battle to have the best Champions League campaign that we possibly can and we start with the ambition of winning it.”
Meanwhile, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri immediately put the pressure on PSG, labeling them the Champions League title favourite.
“It’s a beautiful and great match to play in and will be a wonderful evening, the fact we’re here to play in this type of match is a source of pride for all of us,” Allegri said.
“We’ll be playing against the number one favourite in my opinion.”
In the group’s other game, Benfica host Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.
Elsewhere, Manchester City is away to Spanish outfit Sevilla who have started their La Liga season slow, while Borussia Dortmund hosts FC Copenhagen in that group.
Holders Real Madrid head to Scotland to face Celtic, while RB Leipzig host Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
Chelsea are in Croatia to tackle Dinamo Zagreb and AC Milan go to Salzburg.
