Manchester United Signs Antony for £80m

Manchester United and Ajax have come to an agreement that will give the Red Devils the Ajax winger.

The deal is believed to involve having Manchester pay an initial 80.75 with 4.25m in add-ons. He will tie for the second most expensive signing for Manchester alongside Harry Maguire.

The two are also the joint most expensive signings in the history of the Premier League. The record for the most expensive signing at 89 million remains the most expensive for Manchester.

In his 82 appearances for Ajax, Antony had scored 25 goals and 22 assists. He joined the club in 2020 from Sao Paolo. He contributed seven goals in the 11 times that he played in the Champions League for Ajax.

Antony is due to arrive in Manchester within the next 48 hours to complete a medical. He also needs to receive a work permit before he can play for the club. It is still uncertain if he will be part of the team that will travel to Leicester City on Thursday.

He is the fifth signing of the summer, joining Lisandro Martinez. Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, and Christian Eriksen.

Antony is believed to be the signing that Erik Ten Hag wanted. Left-footed Antony has exceptional pace and has the ability to create chances from nothing. He is also a hard worker.

The question now is how will Antonys presence affect the current dynamic of the United team.

There is still some speculation if United will get to keep Cristiano Ronaldo or if they are finally letting him go. There have also been concerns that his mood is affecting morale at camp.

Ronaldo has been wanting out of United for some time now but Ten Hag has been reluctant to let him go.
