According to latest reports, Italian side AS Roma are looking to sign Dutch international striker Ruud van Nistelrooy from Real Madrid in the summer of 2009.
It has been reported in the Italian daily Corrierre dello Sport that Roma are looking to sign Van Nistelrooy in the summer to partner Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic upfront.
Van Nistelrooy though is contracted to Real Madrid until 2010 and shall miss the rest of the 2008-2009 season due to injury. But he still remains an essential part of the Real Madrid squad and it is hugely unlikely that Real would be like their top marksman leave in the summer.
Moreover, Van Nistelrooy earns 6 million euros per year at Real Madrid and it is quite improbable that Roma would be able to afford this type of salary.
