According to the report, Real Madrid and Liverpool were locked in a negotiation on Tuesday night but the move fell down after the former Arsenal demanded that he be paid 64,000 pounds per week, roughly twice as much as Real were ready to pay him.

This implies that Pennant is likely to move to Stoke or Wigan in January on a six-month loan deal. The England international has fallen out of favour at Anfield and it is clear that he shall be offloaded in January for the rest of the season and maybe beyond.

Both Stoke and Wiga have been declared to take on the board the 25-year old who in spite of demonstrating promise has failed to be consistent performer.
