City takes on the Spanish champions in Madrid, after Kevin De Bruyne netted the only goal in the first leg last week.
The slender advantage means the English champions could play for a draw to clinch a semi-final berth but Guardiola insisted they’d chase victory.
“We travel there to win the game,” Guardiola told reporters. “That’s what we have to do… We travel with a sure result and intention to win the game. We try to see what the score is in the last five, 10 minutes.
“It will be different from the first because they are at home and create momentum with their own game and the passion of their fans and the history they have. There will be moments when they are aggressive and create problems.
“We have to play our game. We have done these years. You have to finish with 11 in the knockout stages. The message will not for one second be different to what we have done all the time.
“Be careful in situations, defend well. Control the transitions which are really good. All the stuff we prepared - we need to do it as well as possible.”
Elsewhere, Liverpool holds a more commanding 3-1 lead following victory away to Benfica in the first leg, with the second leg at Anfield. Chelsea almost pulled off a remarkable comeback after losing their home first leg 3-1 against Real Madrid, so Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was understandably wary.
“We have to be on top of the game. We were good at Benfica, I liked the game,” Klopp told reporters.
“In a lot of parts I liked it a lot, even when I did the analysis it looked better than it did live, to be honest. The main target is, again our headline, being the one team nobody wants to play against and that Benfica don’t want to play against.”
