The Argentine hit-man has been the best player for Lazio this season and has been a revelation in the Italian Serie A. Consequently he has been linked with a number of top European clubs, including Real Madrid.
But Zarate has dismissed all claims that he was eager to jump ship. In an interview with French Magazine So Foot, Zarate said:
“This is my year. It’s obvious that a club like Real Madrid is every player’s dream but for now I am in Rome and I don’t want to disappoint the Lazio fans.
“I am doing really well and so is the team. We are not to far off the Champions League places.”
“Serie A is very similar to the Argentinean league.
“It’s identical in terms of tactics and I have adapted well here. I wasn’t easy at first but I have plenty of faith and I was convinced I could do well.”
