Arsenal have officially announced the signing of England international defender Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Gunners were long linked with 23-year-old centre-back White, who has signed on a five-year contract.
White joins from Brighton, which he called home since 2014, having enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Leeds United in 2019-20, helping them gain promotion before another good season with the Seagulls in the Premier League last term.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: Ben was a top target for us and its great that weve completed his signing. Ben has been educated with two very good clubs, Brighton and Leeds, in recent seasons.
“He has benefitted well from two very good coaching set-ups and has shown with both Brighton and on loan with Leeds what a strong talent he is.
“Ben is an intelligent defender who is very comfortable with the ball at his feet and his style fits perfectly with us.
“And of course, he is still young, so his age and profile fits with what we are building here.
“We are all looking forward to Ben being central to our future long-term plans.”
Arsenal have been busy this off-season, already signing Nuno Tavares from Benfica and Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht.
Gunners technical director Edu added: Ben has been a key target this summer. He has so many qualities which make us so excited hes joining us.
“Bens a young English player with a great future. Hes very strong defensively, good on the ball with a great passing range. Were delighted Bens signed and we look forward to him growing with us.
