Italy coach Roberto Mancini has hailed his side’s hard work in reaching the Euro 2020 final but knows they face a huge assignment against England at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

England and Italy will meet on Sunday, with the Three Lions enjoying the advantage of playing on home soil, backed by a wave of support from the English fans.

The English have gone on a dream run with their semi-final extra-time win over Denmark capturing the imagination.

But Mancini’s side, whom he describes as “entertaining”, have had an excellent ride to the final too, with a perfect record.

“I hope the guys enjoy themselves for another 90 minutes tomorrow,” Mancini said.

“I would also use the word important because of everything they did, because it wasn’t easy, we had difficult matches, some really difficult.

“It was a path full of difficulty and hard work … now we need one last push.”

Italy navigated their group alongside Wales, Turkey and Switzerland, before knockout wins over Austria, Belgium and Spain.

The Azzurri beat Austria 2-1 in extra-time, got past Belgium in regulation time and edged the Spanish on penalties.

England represent another major obstacle in ex-Manchester City boss Mancini’s goal of claiming Italy’s second European title.

“We have to be calm, knowing that it will be a difficult match, for a lot of reasons,” Mancini said.

“We have to remain focused on our game and try to impose it the best we can, knowing that it will be the last match.”
