Italian powerhouse and former European champions AC Milan still appear to be on the hunt for the Cameroonian international striker Samuel Eto’o.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has admitted that he is still interested to sign the FC Barcelona hotshot. Speaking to the Catalan daily Sport, Mr. Galliani confirmed that he had tried signing Eto’o from Barcelona in the summer but was turned off by Barca’s huge asking price.
Galliani remarked:
“If I could, then I would sign Eto’o. In the summer I went to Barcelona, they asked for €50 million and I quickly returned to Milan.”
Adriano Galliani has also ruled any move to sign the French youngster Karim Benzema from French champions Olympique Lyon. Benzema has been linked with a number of clubs, including Milan, Manchester United and Real Madrid but the Milan vice-president has confirmed that they are not interested in the player.
“Benzema is a good player, but is very expensive and will stay where he is. There are so many player that want to join Milan that we can be selective.
“He is a great forward, young and strong, but he does not interest us and we do not want to bother Lyon.”
