England have warmed up for the 2020 Euros with a 1-0 home win over Austria but Trent Alexander-Arnold was injured leaving them sweating on his fitness.

Bukayo Saka scored his first international goal and the only strike of the match with an angled 56th minute finish.

Saka along with Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish impressed for the Three Lions, who were without a host of Manchester City and Chelsea starters due to their participation in last weekend’s UEFA Champions League final.

Performance aside, Alexander-Arnold was the major talking point, limping off in the dying minutes with a quad issue.

“We’ve got to see, it’s obviously not a good sign that he’s had to walk off the pitch, and he was in some discomfort,” England boss Gareth Southgate told Sky Sports.

“We’re so close to the finals that for any player, injuries makes them a doubt. But we will just have to see over the next 48 hours.”

Elsewhere, world champions France swept aside 10-man Wales 3-0, although Karim Benzema had a penalty saved in his return to international football.

Kylian Mbappe got on the scoresheet for Les Bleus, although he was scorned for an apparent dive by an ESPN commentator.

The Netherlands needed a late Memphis Depay strike to rescue a 2-2 draw with Scotland.

Germany and Denmark shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen netting the leveller.
