Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about winger Nicolas Pepe following his performance against Crystal Palace in the London derby.

The Gunners got the better of Palace 3-1 away from home at Selhurst Park in London in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

Pepe was a key player for Arsenal in the match, as the Ivory Coast international winger scored twice for the North London club.

The 25-year-old found the back of the net first in the 35th minute and then in the fifth minute of injury time.

The former Lille star took two shots and both ended in goals, had a pass accuracy of 91.1%, won two headers, took 85 touches, attempted four dribbles, made one tackle and one clearance, and put in four crosses.

Pepe has scored eight goals and provided one assist in 15 Premier League starts and scored six goals and gave four assists in 10 Europa League starts for the Gunners this season.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Pepe: “It’s my feeling and it’s everybody’s feeling in the coaching staff, and his own feeling that he’s come a long way this season.

“He hasn’t had the consistency sometimes in the gametime, but I think in Europe he’s been terrific and in the Premier League he’s started to show much more what he’s like, and he’s very hungry. I think he’s changed a lot in his mentality and his willingness to do much more.”
