United played out a 1-1 draw with Fulham at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.
Edinson Cavani put the Red Devils in the lead in the 15th minute with a wonderful effort from distance after a clever flick from Portugal international attacking midfielder Fernandes.
However, the Red Devils had to settle for.a point after conceding in the 76th minute when Joe Bryan scored.
As many as 10,000 fans were allowed inside Old Trafford, and while Fernandes is happy to have the supporters back, he was disappointed that the players could not win the match.
Fernandes told United’s official website: “Really good. It’s really good to have the fans back. We know how important they are for us and honestly everyone is disappointed not to give better a result to them. The performance was good, not enough but anyway we tried to do our best to get a better result to them but today it was not possible.”
The draw with Fulham, who have already been relegated to the Championship, means that United are second in the Premier League table with 71 points from 37 matches.
Manchester City have already won the league title, while Chelsea are third on 67 points, meaning that United will finish second this season.
