According to news emanating from Spain, Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster could be gifted the sack at the end of the weekend should the Merengues fail to win against Valladolid in La Liga.
Real Madrid slumped to a shock defeat to Real Union of the Segunda Division B in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday and the Spanish papers have been going bonkers over this defeat.
The defeat is not a one-off at all. Real have already lost back-to-back matches against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League and just managed to escape jail at the weekend in La Liga when they defeated Malaga 4-3.
The pressure has increased on Real coach Bernd Schuster who is expected to lead Real Madrid to a European triumph this season. But the recent slump in form has exposed Schuster’s (in)capability as coach of arguably the biggest club in the world.
According to Marca’s radio program, La FutbolerĂa, Schuster has been handed an ultimatum to oversee a drastic turnaround in form or be sacked. According to the Madrid based Spanish sports daily, the Real board could take a rather swift decision at the weekend should Real slip up against Real Valladolid at the weekend.
It is not quite clear whom Real would appoint as their coach should indeed the German be sacked.
