Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested that attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe could miss the match against Liverpool this weekend.

The Gunners will take on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Ahead of the game, Arteta has said that the 20-year-old attacking midfielder has discomfort in his hip and will be assessed before a decision is made on his availability.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website: “He has some discomfort in his hip and that’s why they decided to keep him out. We will see today how he comes here, we will speak with the doctors and the physios and see if he is available for training tomorrow.”

Smith Rowe has broken into the Arsenal first team this season and has established himself as an important figure in the side.

The England Under-21 international attacking midfielder has made 12 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners so far this season, providing four assists in the process.

The 20-year-old has also made four starts and three substitute appearances in the Europa League for Arsenal so far this campaign, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process.
