England head coach Gareth Southgate has named his 26-man squad for the Three Lions’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.
Lingard, who joined West Ham on loan from Premier League rivals United in the January transfer window, is among the players named.
The 28-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, has been recalled to the England fold after two years, and he is overjoyed to be back playing for the Three Lions, as his post on Instagram shows.
Lingard failed to get much playing time at United in the first half, but the England international has already established himself as a key figure in David Moyes’s West Ham team.
The 28-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assists in six Premier League games for the Hammers so far.
West Ham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 48 points from 28 matches, three points behind fourth-placed and London rivals Chelsea.
