England head coach Gareth Southgate has included the striker in the squad for World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.
This is the first time that the 25-year-old striker has been named in the Three Lions’ squad.
Watkins has been superb for the Villans this season, with Dean Smith’s side in the running for the European places in the Premier League table.
The striker has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 27 Premier League games for Villa so far this season.
West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has also been included in the England squad for the first time.
