Andy Morrison has raved about Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez and believes that he is an outstanding player.
Morrison has outlined the attributes of the Algeria international winger and has said that the former Leicester star is a pleasure to watch.
The former City central defender made the comments following Pep Guardiola’s side’s comfortable 5-2 win against Southampton at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
Mahrez scored twice for the former Premier League champions, first in the 40th minute and then on 55 minutes. The win saw City move 14 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Mahrez has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 19 Premier League starts and has played six times in the Champions League for City so far this season.
Morrison said about Mahrez: “He’s been an outstanding player over the past few months and been the most predominant to stay in the team.
“Yes, Pep rotates the team, but he has stayed. His first goal came from Che Adams’s mistake, but there was still so much to do -y ou still need incredible technique and quality to be able to do what he does.
“Mahrez is an absolute pleasure to watch and in those areas I don’t think theres anyone better in the Premier League in one-on-one situations, he rips you to bits.
“You know where he’s going to go but when somebody’s that good and the disguise is that good, you cant stop it. As I say, he’s a pleasure to watch at the moment.”
