FA Cup Wrap: Leeds Humiliated by Fourth Tier Side, Top Clubs Cruise
Ian Poveda of Leeds United

Leeds United were the major top flight casualty in the English FA Cup going down to fourth tier Crawley Town 3-0, while Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City eased through on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United were humbled by the League Two outfit, who are currently sixth in the fourth tier, with three second-half goals.

Leeds have been decent in the Premier League upon their promotion this season, albeit conceding almost two goals per game, thus the result was a major shock.

We had the ball for a long period of time but we couldnt do much with it,” Bielsa said. In the first half we played better than the opponent and the game was played how we wanted it to be played, even if we didnt create much danger.

In the second half the game was played how the opponents wanted to play. They did create danger to deserve the goals that they scored. The result generates a lot of sadness and disappointment for us.”

Elsewhere, Manchester City cruised past second tier side Birmingham City 3-0 with a first-half double from Bernardo Silva and another Phil Foden goal.

Chelsea also eased into the fourth round with a 4-0 home win over Morecambe, with Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kai Havertz on the scoresheet.

Carlos Vinicius scored a first-half hat-trick as Tottenham had a straight-forward 5-0 win away to eighth tier outfit Marine.

Brighton & Hove Albion survived a major scare after a stoppage-time own goal forced their clash with Newport to penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Solly March had actually put the Seagulls ahead in the 90th minute before the late leveler. They managed to get through on penalties, winning 4-3.
