Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken highly of Mohamed Salah after his heroics in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Salah scored for Liverpool in their 1-1 draw with FC Midtjylland away from home in Denmark in their final Group D game.

The Egypt international forward found the back of the net in the very first minute when he ran clear and poked the ball home.

The goal came after just 55 second and was the quickest that Liverpool have scored in the Champions League.

It was also Salah’s 22nd goal in Europe’s premier club competition for Liverpool, meaning that he has now surpassed club legend and former England international midfielder Salah.

The 28-year-old is one of the best attacking players in the world and has been a regular goalscorer for Liverpool over the years.

So far this season, Salah has scored nine goals and provided two assists in the Premier League and has scored three goals and provided one assist in the Champions League, while during the 2019-20 campaign, the former Chelsea attacking player scored 19 goals and gave 10 assists in the league and scored four goals and gave two assists in the Champions League.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Salah: “I’m not sure! [It’s] one record after the other. I didn’t know that he could break this record tonight but I’m pretty sure he is proud of that. He should be. Exceptional player, absolutely exceptional player.

“Since we worked together obviously a lot of things clicked really for all of us. He helps the team massively and he knows and appreciates the help of the team as well. If we would have only Mo, even the incredible number of goals he got would not have been enough to be as successful as we were so thank God others scored a lot of goals as well.

“That made this team pretty successful but that Mo is a very exceptional player - I think nobody doubted it, but if you need numbers to prove it then he delivers that as well.”
