Saliba has not been included in Arsenal’s Europa League squad and has not played a single minute in the Premier League this campaign.
The 19-year-old defender has been playing for the Gunners Under-23 side so far this season.
The youngster returned to Arsenal in the summer of 2020 after spending the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Saint-Etienne.
Saliba actually officially joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019, and, as part of the deal, the teenager spent last season on loan at the Ligue 1 outfit.
Arsenal manager Arteta has explained Saliba’s current situation at the club and has suggested that the youngster could be sent out on loan when the transfer window opens in January.
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Saliba: “Whenever we have the spaces and we believe that he’s ready to play with us. To be fair, he’s made massive improvements in the last few months and it’s been a really tricky situation for him.
“As I mentioned before, designed a pathway for him and there were a lot of things that happened to him in his personal life and professionally as well. Now we’ve made some steps forwards, he’s working really hard and played for the under-21s again.
“That was a good game because Martinelli finally came back for 45 minutes, so I think it was a really positive day for us in terms of that.”
When asked whether Saliba could leave on loan in January, Arteta added: “It’s something that we are discussing at the moment, the best thing for us to do. It will be decided soon.”
