Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Edinson Cavani is set to start against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening.

United will take on French giants PSG at Old Trafford in Champions League Group H.

The Red Devils are at the top of Group H at the moment with nine points from four matches, while PSG are three points behind in second.

Cavani left the Parisian club at the end of last season when his contract run out and moved to United on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.

The Uruguay international striker came off the substitutes’ bench to score twice for United in their 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League this past weekend.

The 33-year-old former Palermo and Napoli star has made five substitute appearances in the Premier League for United so far this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in the process.

Cavani has also made one start and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for the former Premier League champions this campaign.

Solskjaer has praised Cavani, and has suggested that he will start against his former club PSG on Wednesday evening.

The United manager told the club’s official website: “Edinson is ready to play. Of course, it’s his own club where he’s the top scorer, so that will affect him mentally. From knowing him, that’ll give him energy and he’ll be ready.”
