Ronaldo, 35, has been withdrawn from Portugal’s squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Nations League match with Sweden in Lisbon.
The Juventus superstar is asymptomatic but has entered into self isolation and has been quarantining away from the rest of the members of the Portuguese squad, who’ve all tested negative.
The Portuguese Football Federation wrote in a statement: “Following the positive case, the remaining players underwent new tests this Tuesday morning, all with a negative result, and are available to Fernando Santos for training this afternoon, in Cidade do Futebol.”
Portugal have had a busy international window, playing two matches within days, a 0-0 friendly with Spain along with a goalless draw with world champions France in the Nations League.

Ronaldo is the latest in a long list of football players who’ve tested positive to coronavirus during the international window, including an outbreak of eight players within the Ukraine national team as well as two other Portuguese players, Jose Fonte and Anthony Lopes.
He’s also the latest member of the Juve squad to contract COVID-19, following on from Blaise Matuidi, Daniele Rugani and Paulo Dybala’s positive tests earlier this year.
Portugal boss Fernando Santos explained: “Yesterday (Monday) night, after the test, Ronaldo and all the players went into isolation. During the night, we heard about the positive test and in the morning Ronaldo was tested again, as were the other players.
“He’s in the room, he’s fine and asymptomatic. I don’t even understand what happened to him.
“These are difficult times and, at the beginning, there is always room for apprehension and anxiety. Then, everything calms down and everything goes back to normal.
“Other players are negative and life goes on.”
