They have pointed out that several of the South American countries involved currently are some of the highest when it comes to incidences of coronavirus, and are worried about the risk, both to the players themselves, and their families.
They have said that they will fully support anybody who decides to turn down a national call-up in the circumstances, and will help defend them in the case of any subsequent disciplinary action.
FIFA has said that clubs must release players, but only if they face no travel or quarantine restrictions either in the country they are travelling to, or the one they return to afterwards.
