Spanish and European giants Real Madrid have been reported to be interested in the Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez.

According to the Madrid based Spanish sports daily Marca, Real Madrid technical committee have singled out Tevez as the most likely world class striker to sign next summer. The 24-year old Argentine international is one of the best centre-forwards in the world at the moment and is highly rated.

Tevez is technically on loan from MSI to Manchester United, who have supposedly to make an offer of at least 37 million euros for the player. Tevez is currently technically on loan to Man United until January 2009.

Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to keep the player at Old Trafford but so far United have not made any concrete offer. Moreover, Tevez himself was quoted saying earlier this week that the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov at old Trafford and Fergie’s policy had curbed his goalscoring propensity.

This has spurred the Spanish media to suggest that Real Madrid would swoop for Tevez this January. It has been reported that should Man United not sign the player on a permanent contract in January, then they would make a move for the player in the summer.
