Football Insider has reported that Celtic manager Neil Lennon will step up the club’s bid to sign Duffy after he saw his side suffer a 2-1 defeat to Ferencvaros at Celtic Park in Champions League Qualifying Second Round tie on Wednesday evening.
The Hoops have been making progress in signing the 28-year-old central defender on a season-long loan from Premier League club Brighton this week.
Celtic are reportedly convinced that the Republic of Ireland international wants to join them ahead of Premier League side such as West Ham United.
However, the Glasgow giants and Brighton are unable to reach a financial agreement, with the Seagulls demanding that Celtic pay a significant loan fee as well as cover all of the defenders wages for next season.
Duffy made 12 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Brighton last season, scoring one goal in the process.
