According to Madrid based Spanish sports daily Marca, representatives of Man City have already held discussions with Villa’s agent Jose Luis Tamargo. According to the pro-Real Madrid paper, two representatives of Manchester City met with Tamargo in a luxury hotel in Madrid and that negotiations did proceed quite smoothly.

David Villa signed a new and improved contract with Valencia in the summer after being speculated to leave in the summer. He was linked with Real Madrid and [{Chelsea]] amongst other clubs but at last Valencia managed to keep the player at the Mestalla.

Villa has a 150 million euro clause on his contract at Valencia but money is not an issue for Man City who were takeover over by Abu Dhabi based ADUG in September. It is believed that a 100 million euro bid for the player from Man City would be enough for Valencia to sell their most prized asset.
