Again.
Done Deal
Sky Sports have reported that they’ve signed Brazilian starlet Reinier on a loan deal that’ll last two-seasons, in a copy of the move that took Achraf Hakimi to Germany.
Hakimi developed at Dortmund before being sold to Inter Milan for 36.3 million, but Reinier will surely have a more secure Madrid future.
Surprise
This is a surprise deal for a couple of reasons. The first one is that Real are willing to let one of their big summer arrivals go for such a period of time, especially after he scored twice for their reserve side.
Reinier scored six goals and created two in just 15 games and that saw the Spanish giants swoop in and conclude a 27 million pound deal for the attacker - but Dortmund are clearly a better side in which to develop away from the intense spotlight that comes with playing for one of the most demanding clubs in the world.
Chances
This is a team who play youngsters. 21-year-old Hakimi was on the pitch for 3.571 minutes - the most in the whole squad - while 20-year-old Jadon Sancho featured for 3.274. 17-year-old Gio Reyna has 408 minutes, Erling Haaland has over 1,000, as does Dan-Axel Zagadou. Those four are all aged 21-years-old or younger, and so Reinier joins a side who is used to playing with youthful exuberance.
But does his move mean a certain someone is close to joining Manchester United? Sancho has been linked with a move away all summer long, and are Dortmund planning on plugging his gap for a couple of years with the Brazilian?
Making Space?
Reinier doesn’t really occupy the same areas as Sancho. The Brazilian prefers to play through the middle, while the English starlet likes to be out wide - but a move away could give Marius Wolff or Reyna the chance for more minutes.
The forward line is pretty well stocked, and Madrid won’t want Reinier to twiddle his thumbs while the rest of the team play while he doesn’t. Dortmund have made the most of their good relationship with the Spanish team, but does it mean the loss of one of their best players?
