The BBC has reported that a host of top flight clubs want to sign the Liverpool starlet, who scored 11 goals during his short loan with Swansea City last season.

Take It Easy

But they should be careful about what they expect from the forward.

Clubs battling relegation should stay clear, and should learn from Tammy Abraham’s failed stint with Swansea in 2017/2018. As talented as any youngster with Championship experience may seem, they aren’t the type of player you want in a relegation dogfight - which should discount Aston Villa, Fulham and maybe Brighton.

Be Careful

Rhian Brewster should stay clear of them too. He needs a stable side who can afford to give him minutes when turning to experience or giving in to panic may seem like more attractive options.

Newcastle United are cited as one of the interested sides, but signing Brewster would be an incredible gamble for them to take. The Magpies need a goalscorer with a semi-proven record in the Premier League, not a talented but inexperienced striker with a handful of senior games under his belt.

Newcastle went for a player of promise to replace Salomon Rondon - but Joelinton was a complete flop after being misused, misunderstood and misguided.

Better

A better fit would be a side like Burnley or Crystal Palace. Both teams have first choice forwards already, but need their ranks complimented to make it through the rigours of a top flight campaign. Palace, especially, need an additional option to supplement Jordan Ayew and a potential link-up with the twinkle-toed Wilfried Zaha is a tasty thought.

With nine goals, Ayew was their top scorer. Zaha has four, making him Palace’s second top scorer. They have clear need of further bodies, an injection of youth and some different ideas. Brewster could provide all three.

Best?

Burnely are perhaps more well stocked, with Jay Rodriguez, Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes remaining important members of Sean Dyche’s forward line. But the manager’s trust in Dwight McNeil shows us that age is just a number to him and that will benefit Brewster.

Bringing in an inexperienced youngster is a gamble for any club, especially in a key area like up front. And for those battling relegation, it’s even more important to be completely sure of the lad before making a move.
