Five-time Europa League/UEFA Cup winners Sevilla possess plenty of threat against Manchester United who go into the match as marginal favourites.
“We’ll have to see how the game pans out - do you get the first goal? That’s important in games like this,” Solskjaer said in the pre-match press conference.
“In any game it’s important to start well. We talk about it. We practice and were prepared for a good start.
“Definitely, against good teams, if you go chasing, if you start on the back foot, if you don’t get your first touches, or your first tackle, you’ll be going searching a little bit.
“You’re playing against a team full of quality and if we don’t get touches of the ball it will be hard.”
United finished the Premier League with strong form, storming into third spot despite a slow start to the 2019-20 season under Solskjaer.
One of the big changes for the Red Devils was the January arrival of Bruno Fernandes, who has scored 11 goals since joining United.
Former Udinese and Sampdoria midfielder Fernandes, 25, praised Solskjaer for his impact in bringing out the best in him.
“The manager was very clear,” he said. “He told me to not be afraid, to just be myself, that he knew full well why he had sought me out, and what I was capable of doing.
“To continue to take risks in a match and to maintain the same mentality that I had at Sporting, to keep giving instructions on the pitch.
“It helped a lot to have already played abroad, in Italy. I left Portugal at a young age, I had to make my mark in football by myself against everything and everyone, as we say. (Playing in Italy) helped in the fact that today I’m a more grown up, more mature person, which makes settling in easier.
“Everybody at Manchester United has been amazing. I got to know my team-mates better. I had seen them playing, but I became better aware of their qualities and found out what I could do to improve the team.”
