Adam Lallana should be a perfect fit for Brighton.

The former Liverpool player will be joining the Seagulls on a free as the two parties agreed a three-year deal, wrote Goal.

Adam Lallana still feels he has plenty to offer the Premier League side and will be extremely keen to play more minutes and prove the to the rest of the league that he still has it.

Fit

He’s finally got over the fitness issues that dogged him so long. He’s been available for every single round of Premier League games this season, despite only making 15 appearances. That freshness could even prolong his career and make sure that three-year deal doesn’t go to waste, although it’ll eventually morph into a staff role.

Former boss Jurgen Klopp has coached versatility into the ex-England international and Brighton can welcome a star who’s comfortable operating as a playmaker or as someone who can drop a little deeper. Those options will be highly useful for his new boss Graham Potter.

Star

He will add control, excellent ball retention, hard work, a fantastic attitude and a sprinkling of stardust to a squad that’s fighting to establish itself among the elite. Those qualities are tough to pick up on a free, and Brighton were almost certainly helped by their southern location that means Lallana will be closer to his family.

Lallana will also bring some much needed experience to a squad that was fighting against relegation for large parts of the campaign, and he’ll be able to pass on his learnings from years at the top level of the game - including England experience.

The side has some talented youngsters coming through and the chance to be guided in the beginnings of their professional lives will be extremely valuable. Alexis Mac Allister is only 21, Stephen Alzate the same age, Aaron Connolly is a year young, Neal Maupay a couple of years older.

Evergreen

It’ll be great to see the man back in action next season. His skills have been missed, and he’s found a side who should fit his needs like a glove.
