Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has given his take on Unai Emery being appointed the new manager of Villarreal.

Spanish club Villarreal have appointed Emery as their new manager on a three-year contract.

The 48-year-old had been without a managerial job since he was relieved of his duties at Arsenal in November 2019.

The Spaniard, who was appointed the head coach of the Premier League club in the summer of 2018, was dismissed from his role at the Emirates Stadium in North London after a run of disappointing results.

Arteta was subsequently handed the Arsenal head coachs role, and the Spaniard has given his take on his predecessor at the Gunners getting a new managerial role.

Arteta told Football.London when asked about Emery taking the Villarreal managerial role: “First of all congratulations for the new job. He’s going back to Spain, he’s a manager that has a lot of experience in there and has been very successful there.

“We wish him all the best from our side, there are a lot of people who like him a lot and have huge respect for him. Thanks from my side for what he did here with the players and trying to improve the team and the squad. We wish him all the best from our side and hopefully things will go well for him.”

League Tables

Arsenal are 10th in the Premier League table at the moment with 53 points from 37 matches.

Meanwhile, Villarreal finished the 2019-20 campaign fifth in the La Liga table with 60 points from 38 matches and will play in the Europa League next season.
