Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has spoken highly of Christian Pulisic following his performance against Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

Lampard was pleased with the performance of Pulisic during Chelsea’s 5-3 defeat to Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, did not start against the Reds, but the USA international came on as a substitute in the 59th minute.

The former Borussia Dortmund star was involved in the goal that Tammy Abraham scored and also found the net himself.

Chelsea boss Lampard was impressed with the display produced by Pulisic and has raved about him.

Lampard told Chelsea’s official website about Pulisic: “Hugely important. He has had that impact. I was here for Eden’s first year and it is not easy coming to the Premier League, and for Eden in that first year it was adapting to the Premier League.

“Christian has had his moments of that but mid-season he had a really good patch and then since restart he has been in incredible form. Only the injury he picked up in the Norwich game has kept him out of the semi-final when hes flying.

“Against Liverpool he came on and played 40 minutes which is great for feeling confident about the injury and the qualities he has been showing.”
