Baptista Set To Leave Real Madrid?

First it was the exodus of Robinho that hit the headlines in the Spanish sports dailies and now it is the imminent departure of his Brazilian compatriot Julio Cesar Baptista that is making the rounds. Spanish sports dailes are replete with the speculation that Real Madrid are more than eager to offload the Brazilian in the summer since coach Bernd Schuster considers Baptista a liability rather than an asset for his team.

Baptista was in tremendous in the middle of the season when both his midfield competitors Guti and Wesley Sneijder had their form dipped. But since then Baptista has somehow failed to settle down and is now regular featuring for the Merengues on the bench.

It’s been reported in the Madrid-based sports daily AS that Real Madrid sporting director Pedrag Mijatovic is welcoming offers for Baptista and that “The Beast” shall certainly be sold at the end of the season. But where? At the moment, no one has a clue to that answer. Some say Sevilla FC but that is hardly going to materilize since Real signed Baptista from the Andalucian club in the summer of 2005 and a move back to the Sanchez Ramon Pizjuan is hardly something that Baptista would relish.
