Brendon Rodgers Leicester side have lost momentum since the restart but will have been pleased to earn a point against an Arsenal who are looking unusually drama free - Matteo Guendouzi aside.
Vardy, like Leicester City, has fallen by the wayside a little bit but his three goals in two games indicate a player who is slowly getting back to his best and he’s now top of the Golden Boot pile with 22 strikes.
Born Again
The 33-year-old is in the form of his life and continues to terrorise defences. He’s on track to break his own personal best of 24 scored in the magical 500-1 season and will be the key man if Rodgers is going to lead Leicester back into the Champions League.
His three goals came at a good time, too. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have both hit the back of the net recently, while Danny Ings is sniffing around like a Yorkshire terrier at a play park.
The Liverpool pair are five and six goals behind Vardy and shouldn’t represent much of a challenge to Vardy, but Ings has been the dark horse of the campaign and you never know.
Chasing Pack
The one slight disappointment from Tuesday night is the goal scored by Arsenal man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He’s the former England international’s nearest competitor and currently has 20 goals.
Vardy might come to love that two goal cushion. Leicester have a tough final run-in of fixtures as they still need to face Sheffield United, Tottenham and Manchester United. Although Bournemouth should provide little resistance on Vardy’s Golden Boot quest.
It’s exciting to see someone who should be approaching the end of his career playing like he’s trying to establish himself among the league. Vardy has been transformed under Rodgers and he’s within touching distance of capping off his best ever campaign.
