United will return to action on Friday evening when they take on Tottenham away from home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London in the Premier League.
The top flight of English football will resume this week after being suspended in the middle of March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
United left-back Shaw is looking forward to the clash against Tottenham, and the 24-year-old England international believes that it could be defining for the Red Devils.
Shaw told United’s official website: “Obviously our main focus is on Spurs though. The magnitude of this fixture and how defining it could be in our season if we get a good result makes it massive for us.
“We’ve just got to play the way we were playing before the break and we just need to make sure we’re up for it and get off to a good start in this final part of the season.
“We can take a lot of heart from our performance in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford this season. We’ve watched clips of that game this week and I think we were virtually unplayable at times that night.
“We pressed Spurs really high, made it very tough for them to play out and when we had the ball we were really quick with our decisions and actions.
“Apart from their goal, which was great but might have been handball, I don’t think they created many chances all night. Hopefully we can take a lot from that game into this one.
Top-Four Challenge
United are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, and their performances and results before the suspension of football were very encouraging.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are fifth in the league standings at the moment with 45 points from 29 matches, just three points behind Chelsea, who are currently fourth and occupy the final Champions League spot.
Stats
Shaw has made 14 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for United so far this season.
The former Southampton left-back has also scored one goal in two FA Cup ties, and has played four times in the Europa League and twice in the EFL Cup this campaign.
