Are Chelsea trying to break the internet? You’d think they are, I’m sure they are.

You’d think they are, I’m sure they are.

Intent

They’re certainly feeding the trolls. Twitter is a frenzy. Rivals fans are pulling their hair out and cursing at the stars, the sun and the moon as Roman Abramovich chuckles to himself in a room that smells of rich mahogany.

Oh, you didn’t think the Russian billionaire would let one silly little transfer ban stop him did you?

Frank Lampard must be counting his blessings for even he didn’t predict the level of ambition Abramovich would’ve shown this window, especially in the face of a post-COVID financial landscape.

High Rollers

Everyone else’s chips are down but Chelsea have just bet the house.

By spending big when everyone had stood still they are taking a risk. Lampard may be handed several elite level players and spearhead a historic and unexpected title charge and Champions League campaign next season, which will begin to refill depleted coffers, all because Abramovich held when the other clubs folded.

Or they might struggle to gel, the club might get weighed down in debt and they’ll be back to square one. I have no idea which way it’ll fall, but it’s going to be exciting finding out.

Triple Threat

Deals for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech and Germany’s second-most wanted man Timo Werner have already set tongues wagging but now the Blues want to continue the spend by bringing in Kai Havertz.

According to the Metro, Chelsea have opened negotiations for Havertz as they look to strengthen ahead of next season.

And so I ask again, are they trying to break the internet?

Ahead

They keep on coming out of nowhere to steal the best young talent from under the noses of those who traditionally have had first dibs on players of those quality.

With their owner trying to get ahead of the curve, the only place in the UK you’ll find that, Chelsea are back with a bang and they’re swinging more punches than Rockey.
