Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has added another chapter to his fairytale story.

The 30-year-old Nigerian was due to leave Old Trafford after just eight appearances but it appears as if terms have been reached to allow him to continue his adventure with the Red Devils.

Conflicted

After some conflicted news, Davids Woods for the Daily Mail said a deal wouldn’t be agreed, it looks like Odion Ighalo will remain with Manchester United.

Now the Express has reported that he’ll stay with United until January 2021 in an unlikely swanson to a career that appeared destined to peter out in China.

If Ighalo does stay in England, it’ll be one of the more remarkable turnarounds in football.

Unexpected

After a decent career with Watford, Changchun Yatai brought him to the Super League in 2017 and desperation brought him to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tried and failed and tried and failed to bring in someone to supplement his forward lines until an unexpected move for the Nigerian. Nobody expected he’d score four goals in his eight games and give Solskjaer an unexpected bonus towards the end of the season.

A move was sought for Bournemouth man Josh King, previously of Man Utd as a youngster, but that fell through when nobody could agree terms on the deal.

Banter

When Ighalo was announced, there were raised eyebrows everywhere and a certain amount of skepticism surrounded the club. Banter Twitter was at its most vicious.

As a fan of the club, it’s almost certain that Ighalo would’ve given up on ever featuring for the Red Devils, and just when he got that lifelong dream, it appeared as if the COVID-19 pandemic would steal that away from him.

Now, a lifeline has been handed to the 30-year-old and one of the best fairytale stories of the Premier League season looks set to write itself a new chapter.
